Last night, fortunately for us, my grocery shopping didn't turn out as successfully as I had hoped. SO, we had to find a place to eat dinner. Hmmm, maybe this was a subconscious sabotage, or intentional; I'll never tell. Anyways, I scoured the restaurants for Restaurant Week but didn't find any friendly vegetarian choices, until I came across Fabi + Rosi; also appealing was the fact that they serve local pork for their special menu. As this was also an option for me to eat, since I will indulge in locally grown meats, we called for a reservation.

Clusters of bats flying over Milago and The Shore Tonight was busy! It started with a nice scooter ride home with rain sprinkling down. I rather enjoy the rain when I'm on the scooter, as long as I am on the way home. It does remind me though that it will be cold soon and I'm keeping my fingers crossed I can survive the first winter without a car in our family, last year Brent had one so I bummed a ride often on cold rainy days. After I got home we went for a run. Since we are training for the marathon it doesn't matter if it's raining or not, the run must go on and it was a nice relief from the beating sun we've had all summer. Tonight I had dinner with my friend Sarah. After a long weekend of eating out and drinking I wanted something that felt and tasted good, so we went to the Raw Bar at Whole Foods. It never lets me down. I had their nachos made with seitan. I swear I could serve that to any of my carnivorous friends and they would love it! I will never understand how they make “sour cream” and “ranch dressing” taste so good without dairy; it truly is amazing to me. The delightful girl that prepared our meal suggested I
Our second in night Maryland we went to Olazzo for Uncle Laurey's 90th Birthday! (I'll get to the food in a minute.) 90, that is a nine and a zero people, can anyone really fathom that? I can't. I hope that on another visit, I can sit with Laurey and Faye and learn of their vast experiences as the world and their perspectives have surely changed, over so many years.
The birthday boy and his wife have been together for 60 something years, again, this is unfathomable from my point of view. These two, besides just Tonight we went to a poolside fashion show sponsored by the Art Alliance Austin at the AMLI downtown. It’s slowly becoming cooler in Austin and this was a great night for such an affair! I love that we can go to these events and you see people dressed up the the nines to your general Austin casual cool.
