Last night, fortunately for us, my grocery shopping didn't turn out as successfully as I had hoped. SO, we had to find a place to eat dinner. Hmmm, maybe this was a subconscious sabotage, or intentional; I'll never tell. Anyways, I scoured the restaurants for Restaurant Week but didn't find any friendly vegetarian choices, until I came across Fabi + Rosi; also appealing was the fact that they serve local pork for their special menu. As this was also an option for me to eat, since I will indulge in locally grown meats, we called for a reservation.
I was disappointed that we weren't going to be able to be worked in until 8:30, but that was our bad since we waited until the last minute. I called back a few minutes later to reschedule; luckily for us they had a cancellation and could work us in earlier! The location is where Zoot used to be, off Lake Austin Blvd. The dining room is elegant, dressed in black and white and the lighting is romantic and dim, but not too dark. I wanted to take pictures, but feared my bright flash might ruin the other diner's experience, so you will just have to go see for yourself! The restaurant week menu is $25/person for 3 courses which is definitely reasonable for what you get. I also had a $6 glass of Domaine Couillaud Chardonnay from France; it was a nice dry wine at a great price.
As we were leaving I wanted to give the young lady at the front my card to let her know I loved my experience and that I wanted to make sure it got passed on to the manager that I would be posting in my blog about our dinner. To my surprise, it was the owner Cassie.
She was delightful and had stopped by our table during the dinner to make sure we were enjoying our meal, but we didn't realize who she was. Her husband, Wolfgang, is the chef and I hope they are both proud in what they have accomplished as it was a delightful meal that we will tell our friends about. I wish them the best and hope we can make it in again soon.
-Thanks Cassie and Wolfgang for a great night!

For an appetizer, Brent chose the pork belly salad. Mmm, I haven't had meat in forever and the pork belly was crisply fried and delicious. I'll never pretend that I don't miss eating meat, but for the most part my guilt for the environment outweighs my urges.

These are simply awesome. The young lady didn't have anything special to say about them but I think these shoes can speak for themselves!
