Clusters of bats flying over Milago and The Shore Tonight was busy! It started with a nice scooter ride home with rain sprinkling down. I rather enjoy the rain when I'm on the scooter, as long as I am on the way home. It does remind me though that it will be cold soon and I'm keeping my fingers crossed I can survive the first winter without a car in our family, last year Brent had one so I bummed a ride often on cold rainy days. After I got home we went for a run. Since we are training for the marathon it doesn't matter if it's raining or not, the run must go on and it was a nice relief from the beating sun we've had all summer. Then we rushed to get ready as we attended our first The Young Execs of Austin networking event. It was great! They rented one of the Lone Star River Boats on Lady Bird Lake aka Townlake. I thought that it might be kind of cheesy but admittedly I was impressed. It was a cool and beautiful night and though I have seen the bats before in Austin there was definitely something different about seeing them while on the water. We met some great people and definitely enjoyed ourselves. My pictures of the Austin skyline didn't come out as nicely as I would have like but you can see them here if you wish. Then we were tired and hungry and we didn't feel like making anything at home to eat. We scooted over to Guero's on Congress. I always love their bean and cheese tamales, so I had one of those, their bean soup and a side salad. I was a little disappointed in their black bean soup as I expected it to be more soup than just a bowl full of beans. (shrugging shoulders) The side salad was actually pretty nice with shredded carrots and chipotle feta dressing, mmm. Next time, I'll just get more tamales and a side salad. I also like their red salsa, it isn't spicy but I like that it tastes a little bit like okra. That gives me some ideas on what I need to do with all my okra from farm to work program I participate in! Brent had the beef fajitas. He never says much about his food, unless he doesn't like it, so I guess they were good. Now we are home finally and I'm ready to settle in before the busy weekend ahead.
