So last night we went to a networking event put on by the Young Executives of Austin. This was the second event we have gone to with this group and I it was a blast! It was held at the The Kabaret Room (old part of Speakeasy) with a performance by Mandy Lauderdale. The Kabaret Room was a pretty cool set up. I can't remember how the old Speakeasy was but the couches and intimacy of the area is really nice. One thing I love about networking events is that it gives me the opportunity to go to bars I might not normally frequent. I honestly didn't network as much as I normally would at this event because the performance was so cute! Mandy is normally a red-head and she was just this little cute thing with a blonde wig and a great voice. I was surprised when she started actually singing that she had a voice to match her style; it was so perfect, she's really got this niche down. The performance was really interactive and she pulled several gentleman and ladies into her show. Kudos to the Young Executives for booking her! Overall I really recommend this group if you are looking to network. They are fun, young, active people in Austin and it isn't nearly as stuffy as some of the other groups I have tried. I also love that they incorporate wellness and community service but not to the point that it's too often and you don't have time for it. From what I have seen so far they pimp a different charity every month and have different ideas for the wellness activities. They have a kayaking trip and camping trip coming up soon, pretty cool. After networking we were starving. No, I haven't forgotten about my Vita-Mix but I'm lacking a few ingredients and Brent needs the solid food. Anyways, we hadn't been to Hut's in a while and remembered it was there 2-for-1 burger night. That is always such a great deal and who complain about two people eating for under 10 bucks? I like it because I can also sub my veggie burger for the other burger so it works out well. Brent gets his meat and I get my non-meat, so we are all happy! Also, in my opinion, they have the best fries in Austin. A half order is plenty for two. We were sitting by the front window andI loved the way the red neon light made everything look:
