VitaMix (our investment in health) and Dinner at Whole Foods

My new best friend, Joey, the BlendMaster at Whole Foods downtown.
Dinner at Whole Foods, yeah yeah, I'll get to that. Let's talk Vita-Mix! This is definitely my latest love! We'll see how my fascination and affection continues in the next few weeks but I don't think I'm going to lose any excitement for this new appliance in our house.  Let me tell you how we first met....  I bumped in to Vita-Mix, strangely enough, at the State Fair last week. Before that I had never heard of one.  I became enthralled, like a bug flying toward the light, and was mesmerized by the demonstration. Brent finally pulled me away so we could go see some of the other sights at the fair. There were a few claims that I was a bit leery of but Vita-Mix remained on my mind.

Our new housemember: a beautiful red Vita-Mix, sitting in her own chair at the pasta bar at Whole Foods.
Then, yesterday, Brent sent me a message saying that Vita-Mix was in town at Whole Foods. I had to go visit them.  The urge was so strong for me to be reunited with the blender that I hastily left work and dashed to Whole Foods as quickly as I could. Forsaking all others once at the store, I found my love in a flash.  The familiar sound of the speaker and whitty jokes from the Demo-master beckoned me hither and under the glowing lights in the produce section stood Vita-Mix in all it's glory.
As I stood listening and sampling through the smoothie, sorbet, and tortilla soup presentations and further learning of all the excellent health benefits I knew we could remain apart no longer. (Did you know there is pound for pound as much protein in cantaloupe seeds as there is in meat?) Alas, there was only 1 red one left. I couldn't make such a huge purchase without consulting my human-love, Brent, so I mournfully departed, looking over my shoulder the entire time hoping I was saying "See ya later" and not "Good Bye" to my little red darling.

The package included four flexible cutting boards, a recipe book, an 'as seen on tv' ginsu knife (don't be jealous), a spatula, and an 8 year warranty. Woohoo!
After some serious time with smoothie buddy, Joey, I bought a few groceries and went home to await Brent's arrival. I heard his motorcycle pull into the garage and rushed him before he got to the back door; I was anxious to give him a recap of all I had learned about the product. As Brent walked into the kitchen I saw his searching eyes for the Vita-Mix and he was astonished that I hadn't purchased it. I hate spending money and really need him for support and hopefully for half the payment! I rushed us to Whole Foods for dinner and "discussion".

'Litte Red'
As I am sure you have surmised by now, we bought the red Vita-Mix! Throughout the next week I'm sure I'll tell you of my love the the ease of use and beauty of cleaning it and use and of all the glorious things I can make, but for now I shall simply leave you with this... Less than 4 minutes from start to finish, my Vita-Mix breaking in with orange sorbet.

I don't want to leave out our dinner at Whole Foods out because it was really delicious.  I need to add the picture of my meal but I had a half order of their pasta marinara with added veggies; I always order it extra spicy and it's always perfect! I highly recommend it and a half portion is more than enough!

I can't wait to hear about your Vita-Mixing! I've wanted one for years, but never could justify buying one. I never make smoothies or juices or anything. But maybe I would? If I had a Vita-Mix? :)

I bought one off Craigs list last year. I think it must be from the 50s and I'm not kidding. Its chrome and black. Pretty cool!! And yes, it will blend anything :)

I believe I've been replaced by a red "blender". I'm probably in trouble for calling it a blender in the first place. Laura now has a new baby.

Chrome and black is actually an up charge now by like $100. How cool! Impressive that it is still working!
