The day began with an early morning smoothie. You can see the recipe here. It was awesome! I love vegetables and I love fruit, but if someone had told me yesterday that I would love a smoothie with spinach and strawberries together, I would have thought they were crazy. I am so impressed with how the Vita-Mix is able to really break up the spinach and make everything so creamy and smooth. So, the day was off to a good and healthy start and with such a fabulous Vita-Mix beginning, nothing could get me down.... right? Well, it was Monday and those days are generally blah anyways because obviously, most of us have to go back to work. It wasn't a particularly glorious or terrible day but I'm always glad when the end of any Monday nears. Today Brent and I had a meeting to go to after work. I arrived early, of course, and I was waiting outside until he arrived. It was obvious to me that there were lots of very loud, very noisy birds so I carefully parked my scooter away from the trees. I thought that I was safe from "the line of fire" and was innocently standing and waiting when all of a sudden I thought that maybe a leaf or something had fallen on my head. I reached up only to discover what I thought was a little bird poo. I wasn't too concerned while I waited, surprising for the germaphobic me, and I just reminded myself it is supposed to be good luck. Brent arrived and immediately said, "Oh. My. God!" I knew it was no little poo at that moment. Of course, he had to take a picture. I truly don't believe this picture does any justice to the magnitude of this thing. Brent pulled it out of my hair with a tissue and the large green bird log literally floated in the toilet! It was terrible and I was gagging and laughing and he was scrubbing and telling me to be quiet since we were at someones home and he was worried they were going to think we were doing something strange in the bathroom. It was super disgusting. We both recovered somehow and continued on with our meeting and then headed home... and let the green continue. So before I realized the impact, good and bad, that green was having on my life today I made another green decision. I had already planned our Vita-Mix soup dinner which was a delicious looking recipe for potato and spinach soup. I was so excited and could hardly wait to get mixing! A friend we haven't seen in a while stopped by and I was sad that he wasn't going to be able to stay long enough for my soup to finish. A few minutes after his departure my dinner was ready. It was terrible; a gooey, gluey, starchy green bowl of ick. I have a few ideas on how to tweak it to make it taste better, I think, but needless to say, I was done with green for the day.
We ended up going to Which Wich? to eat dinner. Pictured below is actually my dinner a few nights later from Frank. I've raved about them so much lately I thought I would just throw this in somewhere. This is the portobello mushroom "cheesesteak" sandwich and it is awesome. great flavors with nice crispy, but not too hard bread. The cheese is a little think but overall the flavors are there.
