Tonight we were invited to our friend's place at the AMLI on second street. On our walk over we were pleasantly greeted with the Viva la Vida Fest sponsored by the Mexic-Arte Museum. We didn't go to all of the festivities but it was a pretty cool site! I can't believe we have never strolled through there before; I see it every year but never think to go check it out. They had all kinds of food and music and some really cool/creepy face painting for the kids. I have to say sometimes festivals like that are annoying but only when I want to get somewhere and the streets are blocked off. This event really reminded me how much I take my downtown life for granted; when things like this are just a few steps out my front door I should go check it out. I've been missing out! After our short walk through the festival we headed to 219 West for a bite to eat before heading to the party. We wanted to watch the second half of the UT game and this was definitely a great place for game watching. It had a nice, large screen that Brent and I agreed is one of the best looking around. The picture was very clear compared to so many other places with big screens. Unfortunately our dinner wasn't that great. Maybe they were having an off night so I won't really go in to it but I think there are better places to eat in that area. We had a great time at the party. Our friends got a really cool place at the AMLI with a huge corner balcony and it was a perfect night to sit outside and catch up with some friends we haven't seen in a while. I also had to hand out a few stern warnings that people better get their act together for Halloween! People need to bring their A game for the Halloween party we are having next weekend, seriously.
