The day after our excellent dining experience at Charlie Trotter's, which I posted about here, we were treated, compliments of Chef Trotter, to a lunch at Trotter's To Go. We were beyond delighted to continue in our Chicago adventure and taste more of what Charlie's team had to offer. We were given an address and told what time to be there and we had no idea what to expect. I knew a little about Trotter's To Go and expected maybe a picnic lunch packed for us to take to the park... what a silly girl I am sometimes.
We were immediately greeted by Mike. We walked in and he was behind the beautiful deli case doing some prep work. He looked up and said, "Hi! You must be the couple from Austin. We're so glad you made it!" Brent and I looked at one another and smiled this was going to be fun!
Within seconds, literally, Rachel came around the corner, greeting us with a big smile welcoming us by name. Soon Mike came out and we were taken on a tour of the cute little shop and told about this and that.
Both Rachel and Mike worked with us throughout our meal explaining everything from sake to wine from meat to veg throughout our 2+ hour lunch. Again we were made to feel so special and welcome. It was a very similar experience, in line with the dinner the night before, just with a perfectly plastic spoon. You can see/read more details here.
After our wonderful meal we were taken on a full tour behind the scenes of the eatery. Once again we were gifted a bag of goodies to take on our way, including some bread pudding and cookies to snack on back at our hotel. I was once again immensely impressed with the staff of Charlie Trotter's and their enthusiasm and passion for what they do.
Rachel, Jonathan, and Mike-
Sincere thanks to the three of you for such a special occasion. For making our lunch feel more special and taste more flavorful than we ever anticipated.
And to all who read this blog know, that if you ever go into Charlie Trotter's or Trotter's To Go, I can't imagine you would ever be disappointed.
Sincerely-
