Schoepf's pit-o-meat. Pretty impressive.
So we headed to Dallas on Sunday to go to the Muse/U2 concert there on Monday night. We bought the tickets last February or so and I've been anxious to go to my first U2 concert! Anyway, it was a long drive to Dallas with very crappy, rainy weather and traffic kept stalling due to the 4 accidents we saw along the way. It was pretty crazy. So we decided to take a break from the deluge coming down upon us and grab a bite to eat. I like to trick myself and believe my eating habits aren't that difficult, but as I searched the GPS for eatery destinations I realized this wasn't going to be easy.... we aren't in Austin anymore, Toto.

Brent had really wanted to stop at the Salt Lick by the Dell diamond but I was afraid it would take to long and there wouldn't be anything for me to eat. He kept drooling over and talking about all the barbeque billboards along the way and I finally decided just to give in and let this boy eat some meat.  So, we decided to stop at Schoepf's based on a billboard sign saying they had been recognized as one of the top barbeque places in the country.
Brent liked it but nothing holds a candle to Salt Lick in his eyes. I just hate that people throw their gross gnawed up bones in the center of the table. It's pretty disgusting in my opinion and I realize it is a "man" thing.
We got back on the road and headed to Dallas for the very long 5 hour ride.

I do love eating on a picnic table... truly.
We finally got to Dallas and it was time to eat again. We decided to head to Sushi Zushi which I reviewed in Austin here.  Apparently they have been around for several years in Dallas and the food was consistent and good between the Austin and Dallas locations.  It was a long, long day but it's always good to see Brent's dad Bud.
