It's that time of year again (sigh). I think everyone simultaneously loves and hates Girl Scout cookie season. Unfortunately for me, one of my co-workers, has become the resident Cookie Crack Dealer, and brings boxes and boxes to the office. I have worked at this place for a cumulative five years and I have seen people that I have NEVER seen before come in our office. So, does this mean that Girl Scout cookies bring people together? My answer is a definitive no; there is no bother for introductions or other social niceties. People are here for the cookies and nothing more. Once again I have seen how various lives are controlled by food. Needless to say, I was never a Girl Scout. But I was thankful that he brought me a very special box.... Ok, so maybe, just maybe it isn't a special box. Maybe in reality he just handed me a box, took my money, and went on his merry little way. But in MY reality (or altered reality due to some trusty white-out and and a fine tipped sharpie) he gave me a calorie conscious, protein packed, box of thin mints. Whatever makes my world go round, right? GreenlingNow for a completely different turn, I went to a Greenling food soiree last Saturday. They have these events about once a month and people can bring food from their gardens or other local produce they get from various places. I really like the idea because it gives you an idea of different ways you can use seasonal items, which can be difficult at times. Since I was volunteering at the event I didn't get much of a chance to see all the items but I overheard some cool stuff. I'm also weird about eating things in front of strangers so I didn't taste anything, but it looked good. And last but not least I learned to make some jewelry this weekend. I'll have to post pictures soon and I'm super stoked about my new found hobby! Be sure to stay posted for some of my blinged out creations.
