I am no movie reviewer and most of the time I don't generally talk about movies I have seen but I feel this one deserves a post. This is one of the best movies I have seen in some time, in fact, I really want to go back and see it again! I didn't realize it was a Martin Scorsese film until we were at the theater and the movie was very different from what I was expecting from the previews. I expected some crazy film effects and scary images and that's not exactly what I got. Instead, I was delighted to see a film that paid homage to one of my favorite film directors, Aflred Hitchcock. There were definite aspects in the way various scenes were filmed as well as the mode in which the story was told that was reflective of Hitchcocks signature style. Other aspects of the film that I truly enjoyed were the depth and colors in so many of the shots. I truly lost myself in this movie. I highly recommend you check it out!

I went to my friend Kim's house on Sunday night to enjoy one of my favorite movies, Heather's. Due to a schedule conflict we were unable to make it to the Alamo Drafthouse quote-along last week and couldn't bear to miss the movie so Kim threw a little watch party at her house. The fabulous hostess that she is she also prepared some movie themed concessions including: A surprisingly tasty "Drain-O" beverage from vodka and cherry limeade with a splash of food coloring; some "pate" that was actually some delicious hummus; as well as some bar-b-que cornnuts. If you have seen the movie, you understand, and if you haven't and want to throw a them party these are excellent ideas! It was a blast and I just love Winona Ryder from back in the day.
Brent found out that Zombieland was premiering at the Paramount during Fantastic Fest here in Austin. We were pretty bummed that we couldn't get tickets to the festival this year. I was super stoked that we were able to get into this showing, as some of the film tickets go up for sale to non badge holders. As soon as he told me this was premiering here in Austin, with the cast and a Q&A after, I was in. I love zombie movies. Funny ones, scary ones, I dig em all! I appreciated that the tickets were assigned seating so I didn't have to worry about scrambling for seats and we had really good ones on the upper balcony dead center. I like the upper balcony at Paramount because the seating is angled and I can always see over the person's head in front of me, even if they are tall. Anyways....
